Services.
Counselling is space and time just for you. It is warm, confidential and non-judgemental.
Counselling can help you to explore thoughts and feelings, hopes, dreams and any struggles in your life. We can work together to identify your many skills, strengths, values and abilities that can assist in reducing the influence of problems in your life.
I come from the understanding that every persons mental health journey is different and therapy can be tailored to suit your needs.
I am pluralistically trained in counselling and I use a strengths-based, client-centered approach. I consistently draw from principles and elements of Narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Solutions focused brief therapy.
I am welcoming of clients from all backgrounds and identities.
All appointments are 60mins and $110 per session.
Sometimes finances are a barrier to therapy, I provide a limited number of appointments each month which I can offer at a reduced rate.
Another way you can access support is through Work and Income’s Disability Allowance for Counselling, you can fill out this form here and bring it to your GP.
Online
Counselling
Online counselling, for the convenience of being able to meet from the comfort of your home or to save on cost of travel or parking.
If you have young children it can be a challenge to find time out in your day to travel to another location or find childcare so this may be a helpful option.
The person is not the problem.
The problem is the problem.

FAQS

Yes, Counselling relationships are, for the most part, confidential.
What you share with me will stay with me. There are two things you need to be aware of in this respect. The first is that all counsellors are required to engage with regular supervision. This process is carried out with a qualified and experienced professional, whose job it is to keep me accountable while supporting me to offer you the best possible service. Any information shared would be in a non identifiable way.
Short of being subpoenaed by a court of law, the only time I would be obliged to breach confidentiality is if I consider that you pose a serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or another person. If a situation like this occurred, I would endeavour to work alongside you to seek the necessary support.

This is a difficult question to answer as it depends upon many individual factors. In short, it really comes down to what you would like to do. Often people commit to either weekly/fortnightly or monthly intervals.

Your first counselling session is an opportunity for you to meet with me, to address any questions you might have about the process of counselling and we would talk about what you want to get out of therapy.
We will also talk about whether you think we could work well together. The success of therapy depends on the quality of the relationship between us. If you decide that I am not the right counsellor for you, I won’t be upset or offended. It’s more important that you find a therapist you connect with. If that’s not me, then I will try to recommend someone else.
Towards the end of this initial session we will have a discussion about moving forward, booking in additional sessions as necessary.
I will always do my best to explain what is involved in the different therapeutic approaches I use so that you can make an informed choice. I will also regularly check whether our sessions together are meeting your needs.
